Key however, is a big name famous with franchises like CLANNAD, Angel Beats, planetarian and other titles, and they just started to go worldwide. ![]() They're just trying out their luck with hit-or-miss stuff. They didn't put any excellent VNs on Steam as well, compared to the likes of Little Busters, Grisaia or SubaHibi. SakuraGame for example, they just put machine translation and sell games for as cheap as a few cents (and yeah, I know, they literally put a nukige on the market). Those indie publishers have almost nothing to lose. Every publisher follows a different principle, as you pointed out. Genre relevance doesn't matter as long as publishers are different. Even in the same genre there are blatant differences in how publishers treat their games and customers. There's a boatload of mahjong and other indie games with explicit content that are just shy of showing everything there is to see, and some of them even have uncensor patches so you don't have to pull the action games vs sexual ones argument.
